11th Conference in St. Petersburg
In a short while the 11th "Annual conference on reconstruction of European historical dances of 13th-20th centuries" will take place at the Vaganova-Academy, St. Petersburg:
8 - 10 March 2018
An exiting event for all, who are especially interested in reconstruction and who are not afraid of the long journey. The young and energetic dance scene of Russia is really worth a visit. One of the organisers, Ekaterina Mikhailova-Smolnyakova, has already been at our symposium several times.

DANCE & HISTORY e.V.
Recently, the International Historical Dance Symposium gained a new supporting organisation: the newly founded association DANCE & HISTORY e.V. With this step, we would like to create a broader and also legally more solid basis for the organisation, which has previously relied on the private initiative of individuals in collaboration with Burg Rothenfels. The specific aim of DANCE & HISTORY is to promote research into dance. A central emphasis here is on the practical realisation of dance, which is of course one of the main aims of the Historical Dance Symposium.
The Association also has its own website: www.danceandhistory.org

If you wish to support the Symposium, membership of the association or making a donation are very good ways to do so. The association is recognised as being of public benefit, so donations and membership contributions are tax-deductible.

ActaLauris: Call for Papers
ActaLauris, a Spanish online journal specialised on various aspects of the Renaissance culture has published a new call for papers. The upcoming issue is dedicated to Barbara Sparti (1932 - 2013) one of the most influential researchers in 15th- and 16th-century dance. After our last symposium in 2016 dedicated to Barbara, we are happy to see that various other organisations continue the efforts to keep the memory of her and her research alive.
